September 15 to October 15 is celebrated nationwide as National Hispanic Heritage Month. It traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.

Hispanic refers to a person who is from or a descendant of someone who is from a Spanish-speaking country.

Latino/a or Latinx refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from, a country in Latin America.

HHM Artist of the Day

Mr. Rivera of pTrumpet has created a PowerPoint featuring five icons of Latin Music. The HHM Artist of the Day is a great way to celebrate and kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.

Directions for HHM Kick-Off Music Artist of the Day Slides:

1. Print the slides and display them on your whiteboard. Alternatively, project the PowerPoint onto your TV screen for the HHM Artist of the Day.

2. Play the music of the HHM Artist of the Day from the provided YouTube playlist (Family Friendly Hispanic Music).

3. You can play the HHM Artist of the Day's music as students enter the room to give them a jump start to the class.

4. Read an inspirational quote by the HHM Artist of the Day and encourage reflection.
